How Majestic Is Your Name
1 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.
Lord, what a beautiful way of starting my prayer by giving your praise and glory. We know your steadfast love endures forever (Psalm 136). This is a song to sing before and after a battle. It’s to remind us of your divine intervention in our lives. Your mercy and love are above all others. We could never receive this type of love from anyone in this world. You love and save our souls. You redeemed us, not because of our works in righteousness. Still, according to your mercy( Titus 3:5). You’ve saved a people for your own, not because you needed us, but to give us a beautiful relationship with you, Jesus, and we’re always turning our back on you. Forgive us. You’re a holy God and have authority above all things.
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?
O Lord, sitting in my backyard in the woods with the birds singing. It gives me time for reflection and prayer alone with you. I’m so thankful to be able to do this. Today my prayers go to my brothers and sisters in Christ who cannot pray openly and have to do it in hiding because of persecution. One day they will be able to raise their hands and sing praise to you. It would be a day when we can all sing together and forget the troubled days. There will be no war, no weeping, and no sickness. God, you’re always there for us.
5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, 7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, 8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
O Lord, these verses described Jesus in all his glory. You’ve given him authority above all things, and he created all things by his word. I’m so thankful for the diversity in all your creation. In the trees, flowers, and animals. The variety of all people. They have different languages, ethnicity, and intelligence. We can work as one people. One day we will be reunited as one people, working together with one mind for the benefit of serving you. We’re continually working in our life, never enjoying our own work. We must put food on our table and pay the bills. Many worked their entire life, even over 30 years and have nothing in return. All is vanity( Ecc. 1:1-11). Should we boast in our retirement, be no mean! There is no retirement in a Christian’s life. We’re to share our faith with others, encourage others, meditate on your word and be in prayer.
9 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
O Lord, this verse by itself is beautiful to me. Psalm 1-7 mainly was praying over my enemies, and it reminded me of the times we live in these days. Psalm 8 has given me a little break, showing all your glory, and the Son of God has come and has provided everything we needed. You gave us eyes to see, ears to hear, and seek your ways. To find peace where there is none. To confront those who do not want to be engaged. To be serviceable to those who need it. Help us to serve the King of kings and Lord of lords. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
