Adoration
Read verses 1-5
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?2 When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh,my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. 3 Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. 4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. 5 For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble;he will conceal me under the cover of his tent he will lift me high upon a rock.
O Lord, you’re my light and salvation; whom shall I fear? You’re the stronghold of my life, and nothing will shatter my faith in my beloved Savior(v.1). For your hold my soul firmly in your right hand and in your left hand you’re protecting me(Psalm 63:8). My confidence and trust come from a holy God whose steadfast love endures forever. O Lord, let me dwell in your house all the days of my life and let my eyes gaze upon the beauty of the Lord’s temple (v4). Lift me high upon your solid rock (v5).
Confession
Read verses 6-10
6 And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me,and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord. 7 Hear, O Lord when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! 8 You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you,“Your face, Lord, do I seek.”9 Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation! 10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.
O Father, be kind to your servant and hear my prayer when I seek your face. Cast me not off or forsake me not, for I want to learn your wisdom, sound teachings and lovingkindness. Forgive the sins of my past, present and future that I’ve unconsciously done against you. Forgive your servant for being complacent in reaching others with the gospel.
Thanksgiving
Read verses 11-14
11 Teach me your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. 12 Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence. 13 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Low in the land of the living! 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!
O Lord, thank you for teaching me your ways that are profitable and worthy to my soul(Colossians 1:9-14). Thank you for strengthening my courage while waiting for the return of my King.Thank you for exposing my adversary’s false testimonies, for they have spread their lies like cancer that cannot be remedied (v11). Thank you for allowing your servant to look upon the goodness of the Lord (v13).
Power of Prayer
Charles H. Spurgeon“The Lord high Chamberlain of the palace above, our Lord Jesus Christ, takes care to alter and amend every prayer before He presents it to His father. He makes the prayer perfect with His perfection and prevalent with His own merits. God looks upon the prayer as presented through Christ and forgives all its own inherent faultiness. How this should encourage any of us who feel ourselves to be feeble, wandering, and unskillful in prayer! If you cannot plead with God as sometimes you did in years gone by, if you fell as if somehow or other you have grown rusty in the work of supplication, never give up. but come still and come oftener, for it is not a throne of severe criticism to which you come. “
In His Word
I worked on Titus chapter 3 and struggled with verses 8, but it’s getting there. Have a wonderful day!
