Psalm 29

Adoration

Read Psalm 29

The Lord’s Supremacy Over heavenly Being (v.1-2)

Oh, people, ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name. The voice of the Lord is powerful and majestic (v4). The God of glory thunders over the earth with strength, and the splendour of your holiness reaches all people. None shall come and be as powerful and holy as Jesus Christ, our Saviour.

Confession

The Lord’s Supremacy over the Forces of Nature (v.3-9)

Your voice can break cedars and also has the power to break the chains of slavery upon my neck. Oh sweet Jesus, in you alone, can I lift up my eyes and be forgiven of all my sins and approach the throne of God with confidence.

“True prayer is and approach of the sould by the Spirit of God to the throne of God. It is not the utterance of words, it is not alone the feeelings of desires, but it is the advance of the desires to God, the spirititual approach of our natural toward the Lord our God. True prayer is neither a mre mental exercise nor a vocal performance. It is far deeper than that -it is spiritual transaction with the Cretor of heaven and earth. God is a Spirit unseen of mortal eye and only to be perceived by the inner man.”

Thanksgiving

The Lord’s Supremacy Over Humanity (v.10-11)

Oh Lord, your sovereignty over all things brings me joy and comfort, for you’ve control over it all. Your statutes and teachings are excellent and profitable. Your voice is a double-sword edge, and no other gods or men of this world can stand against it, and none can be compared to your holiness. My song of praise shall be heard with the multitude at your return. “And in your temple, all with a cry, “Glory!”

Supplication

Your word shall rule in my heart all the day of my life. Strengthen my groins for the coming hardship and protect my heart when evil spewed doubts into my mind. In you alone can I stand firm in my faith. Praise your name on high!

"As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot." 1 Peter 1:13-19

Oh, The Breadth of the Love of Christ!

“For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.”— Psalm 149:4

How comprehensive is the love of Jesus!

There is no part of his people’s interests which he does not consider, and there is nothing which concerns their welfare which is not important to him. Not merely does he think of you, believer, as an immortal being, but as a mortal being too.

Do not deny it or doubt it: “The very hairs of your head are all numbered.”

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.”

It were a sad thing for us if this covering of love did not tackle all our concerns, for what mischief might be done to us in that part of our lives that did not come under our gracious Lord’s protection!

Believer, rest assured that the heart of Jesus cares about your smallest conserns. The breadth of his tender love is such that you may turn to him in every case; for in all your afflictions He is afflicted, and like a father cares his children, so He cares for you.

The smallest interests of all His saints are all borne upon the heart of the Son of God. Oh, what a heart is his, which does not merely comprehend the nature of His people, but comprehends theIR diverse and innumerable concerns.

Dost thou think, O Christian, that you can measure the love of Christ? Consider what His love has brought you–justification, adoption, sanctification, eternal life! The riches of his goodness are unsearchable; you will never be able to convey them out or even conceive them.

Oh, the breadth of the love of Christ! Shall such a love as this have half our hearts? Shall it have a cold love in return?

Shall Jesus’ marvellous lovingkindness and tender care be met with only faint response and delayed acknowledgment?

O my soul, tune your harp to a glad song of thanksgiving! Go to your rest rejoicing, for you are no desolate wanderer, but a beloved child watched over, cared for, supplied and defended by your Lord.
