Read Titus 2 and pray over it. Then read my prayer for comfort and encouragement.
ADORATION (v.11-12)
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions,
My Savior and Redeemer of my soul, I’m blessed by your grace. You brought salvation to all people and did not take pleasure in punishing those who failed to obey you. You protect our souls from getting further into sin by renewing our minds with the Holy Spirit. Through your grace and salvation, we are trained to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions contradictory to your holiness.
“A definite object and earnest desire in prayer would not avail if they were not mixed with a still more essential and divine quality-namely, a firm faith in God. Do you believe in the power of prayer? There are many Christians who do not. They think prayer is a good thing, and they believe that it sometimes does wonders, but they do not think that prayer-real prayer- is always successful. They think that prayer’s effect depends upon many other things, but that it has no essential quality or power in itself. My own soul’s conviction is that prayer is the grandest power in the entire universe. It has more omnipotent force than any other force known to mankind. Prayer has as true, as real, as invaluable and influence over the entire universe as any of the laws of matter.”
Charle Spurgeon
CONFESSION (v.12b-13)
and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
O Father, teach me how to live self-controlled, upright, and live my life in the present age with dignity and integrity that will reflect your will. Let me wait patiently for the blessed hope you promised to us. As your servant, I will wait till your return. You have appeared to us in the human form of Jesus Christ and died on the cross for us. Oh Jesus, let my soul rejoice in you always. Let my prayer be a sweet aroma. Teach my heart not to be boastful with pride. Guard my mind not to hate my enemies but pray for them that all may be well with my soul.
THANKSGIVING (v.14)
14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
My heart is blessed by Jesus’ perfect sacrifice, and you’ve redeemed my soul from God’s wrath by shedding your blood at the cross. Jesus, you’ve brought the only hope of salvation to all of us.
“See now, God breathes the desire into our hearts, and as soon as the desire is there, before we call, He begins to answer. Before the words have reached halfway to heaven, while they are yet trembling on the lip- knowing the words we mean to speak-He begins to answer them, sends the angel, and brings the needed blessing. Why, the thing is a revelation if you could see it with your own eyes.”
Charles Spurgeon
SUPPLICATION (v.15)
15 Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
O Lord, I will declare of these beautiful things. Help me pray for the homeless, needy, single moms, families struggling with a child’s health, and seniors who passed their days alone and unloved by their relatives. You see all things. Knows all things. Teach us how to pray unceasingly. In you, we can find rest for our weary souls (Psalm 23). I prayed for my family and friends.
Here is one of my favourite songs by Charles Wesley
Arise, my Soul, Arise.
Arise, my soul, arise; shake off thy guilty fears;
The bleeding sacrifice in my behalf appears:
Before the throne my surety stands,
Before the throne my surety stands,
My name is written on His hands.
He ever lives above, for me to intercede;
His all redeeming love, His precious blood, to plead:
His blood atoned for all our race,
His blood atoned for all our race,
And sprinkles now the throne of grace.
Five bleeding wounds He bears; received on Calvary;
They pour effectual prayers; they strongly plead for me:
“Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry,
“Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry,
“Nor let that ransomed sinner die!”
The Father hears Him pray, His dear anointed One;
He cannot turn away, the presence of His Son;
His Spirit answers to the blood,
His Spirit answers to the blood,
And tells me I am born of God.
My God is reconciled; His pardoning voice I hear;
He owns me for His child; I can no longer fear:
With confidence I now draw nigh,
With confidence I now draw nigh,
And “Father, Abba, Father,” cry.
Let’s go pray!
