Psalm 48

ADORATION (v.1-3)

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King.Within her citadels God has made himself known as a fortress.

This prayer is dated August 2022. Read psalm 48 and pray over it in your own thought. I usually read a small part of scripture and pray over it till I’ve no more thought on that part. Then I opened my eyes, read another section and prayed over it. It’s OK to open your eyes and read to KEEP your mind focused on His word rather than have your mind wandering off for the next 15 minutes. So let’s pray with our hearts and mind focused on Him this morning.

Great King and Savior, let your servants rejoice that one day we’ll be at peace in the Great King’s city on Mount Zion. We can find our rest and peace in the One whose name is above all other gods. The same One who offered us salvation, hope, and a purpose in our life. My beautiful Redeemer, you’ve told us you’re our strong fortress. If we fear anything or anyone in this because our focus is not on your triumphed over all our enemies but that we’ve forsaken you in our moment of weakness. Shake the ground under our feet so that our tested faith may be strengthened toward You and not in anyone or anything else. Your steadfast love is what made us endures the most challenging situation.

CONFESSION (v.4-8)

For behold, the kings assembled; they came on together. As soon as they saw it, they were astounded, and in panic, they fled.Trembling took hold of them there, anguish as a woman in labour.By the east wind, you shattered the ships of Tarshish. As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God, which God will establish forever. Selah

Oh, my King, forgive your servant for doubting your mighty power and that I’ve forsaken my God. Knowing He has forgiven us, I will praise my King for my weakness. Jesus Christ has gone before us into battle against the wicket, and his triumph assured our souls that all would be restored at the end of the ages. How great will it be when many people sing praises in the ‘city of our God.’ Let my heart, mind, and soul dwell on those promises of a better world with our Redeemer.

THANKSGIVING (v.9-10)

We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple.10 As your name, O God,
so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness.11 Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments!

Oh, my King, I rejoiced that you’re sitting on your holy throne of grace and are exalted above all other kings. I’m glad you’re reigning over all the nations. All the earth belongs to you, and we must be good stewards until your return. I’m thankful for our Christian friends and churches that have stayed faithful to You. I’m grateful for those who have sought your truth and taught it to us. I’m thankful for the renewal of my love and friendship with my husband. You’ve made us test our faith and trust toward you through our marriage imperfection and made us love each other even more. You’re the One who taught us the importance of a relationship with You and toward our fellow man. If doubts arise, crushed them to ashes and let your truth reign in my heart instead.
