Contenment
“The faithful enstruted themselves to the Lord and foster their confidence and contentment in his car.”
ESV Commentary
I Delight with the Believers
“1Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge. 2 I said the LORD,”“You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.” 3 As for the saints in the land, they are the excellence in whom all my delight resides. 4 Sorrows will multiply to those who chase other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood or speak their names with my lips.”1Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge. 2 I said the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.” 3 As for the saints in the land, they are the excellence in whom all my delight resides. 4 Sorrows will multiply to those who chase other gods. O Father, our lives would be so different if we didn’t worship and have a relationship with the other believers? Oh God of heaven, our hearts and souls are Yours, and we’re grateful for all the people You have put in our life. Teach, rebuke, and love us as You did when You came as Jesus. Your patience surpassed those of higher authority and nobility. You’re the best!
Preserve and guide us, O God, that it may go well with us and grow to love You more each day as we study, pray, and be ready for Your Word. Praying over the Scripture teaches us to draw nearer You in spirit and faith. To take refuge and trust You in our moment of weakness.
All our friends in Christ have encouraged us in one way or another. In return, a joy of great contentment filled our hearts and minds. We need to pray for our Christian friends and families that all would be well with them, for they are precious to us.
“I have a BEAUTIFUL inheritance.”
Instruct Me
5 The LORD is my chosen portion and cup; You have secured my lot. 6 The lines of my boundary have fallen in pleasant places; indeed, my inheritance is delightful.
O, God, Your blessings have set our hearts on high. You counsel us through Your word, and the Holy Spirit shows us how to live a proper Christian life. We shall be content with whatever you’ve provided us in health, wealth, honour, and promotion. Never complaining about wanting more than what You have given us. You see all our needs before we ask for them, and You will provide for what is needed.
“My HEART is GLAD.”
Contentement in Delighthing in God’s presence
7 I will bless the LORD who counsels me; even at night, my conscience instructs me. 8 I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
We have set the Lord always before us. Instruct us how to love our enemies, pray without access, live a godly life, and pray for the needy and the poor. To study tremendously and share Your word with others.
We pray you will increase our understanding of Your word as we study and pray over it. And call us nearer You so that our faith shall be strengthened and ready for the trials ahead of us.
“In Your presence there is Fullness of JOY.
Contentment in the Path of Life
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices; my body will dwell securely. 10 For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay. 11 You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.
Make known the joy of life in the simple little ways that present themselves to us through friends, children, families, nature, work, or play. Never taking anything for granted but appreciating what was given to us.
Being in Your presence while we pray filled our hearts with hope and joy, knowing that all our prayers are heard. Let not the corruption of this world hold our happiness and hope in check, but let those troublesome thoughts at the cross. Holy God, You’ve not abandoned Your people. Jesus is our Lord and King; we shall wait for His return.
"Contentment:Occurs only once in RSV(1 Tim. 6:6) but in Greek equivalent autarkeia appears other places in the Bilbe. The assurance that God has supplied ones's need. The Christian can be 'self-contained' because we have been satified by the grace of God."
