Psalm 109

“Psalm 109 is a powerful reminder of God’s divine justice and the power of prayer in times of adversity. It affirms the believer’s trust in God’s judgment, emphasizing that He is a defender of the oppressed. While the plea for retribution is severe, it underscores the gravity of deceit and the reliance on God’s divine intervention when human efforts fail.” ~ Biblehub

Be not Silent (v 1-5)

Oh my God, be not silent and see how the wicked are prospering in their evil ways; mocking your name without shame. Provoking You to anger. They’ve ridicule the symbolism of the meaning of the Cross for Christians. They hate us as much as they hate you by taunting the Christians to live in the world on immoral laws. My heart long for your salvation. ‘So they reward me evil for good, and hatred for my love (v5).” Help us, O LORD!

May his Days be few (v 6- 15)

Oh God, let your justice and wrath fall upon those who have gone against your commandments, your rules, and your testimonies. Those who are openly plotting against you day and night. Let not their sins go unpunished, but bluntly exposed for all to see. Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may be cut off from the earth for the his/her crime against humanity and against the Anointed One.

Unrest for the Wicked (v. 16-20)

Oh that my heart seek not evildoing, but the righteousness of Christ. If my heart dwells to long on those who seek our lives or are doing evil deeds, I shall let God be their judge and not seek retribution. My all God’s enemies be put to shame in a moment. Your glory shall shine above all other gods.

My heart is Striken ( v 21- 31)

Oh my God, Almighty and Holy, let your servant stand fast while the wicked schemes evil and plot in vain. Your steadfast love is good and you shall deliver us. When my knees are weak through prayer and exhaustion because of the spiritual struggles we must face, help me, O LORD my God! Arise and put your enemies to shame. With my mouth I will give great thanks to the LORD; for He stands at the right hand of the needy one. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
