Psalm 51

Pointe Pelee, ON, Winter 2018

Psalm 51 is the perfect example of a sinner’s confession. If the appointed king David, confessed is wrong to God, then are we not required as believers to do the same? It shouldn’t be a tragic moment of despair to drop at Jesus’ feet. The Cross is always there to receive us. A repentant heart is more pleasing to God than sacrifices and work. King David knew he could rely on God’s mercy and steadfast love to cleanse him from all his sins. Open your Bible to Psalm 51 and pray over it.

Abundant Mercy (v.1-2)

Have mercy on me, O God,
    according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
    blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin!

You are the God of mercy and steadfast love. Only through your son, Jesus Christ, can my iniquities be forgiven. Let me delight in such a blessing, knowing that your love washed away my most significant sins. One of disbelief. Nothing is impossible for You, for you are the God who keeps ALL his promises. Let me hold tight to your righteousness, clinging with the hope of eternal life (Titus 1:2).

Delight in the Truth (v.3-6)

For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is ever before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you may be justified in your words
    and blameless in your judgment.
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being,
and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.

Through your word and others, I’ve learned of my transgressions. Against You, Father, I’ve sinned. Let me have a heart like king David and seek understanding and wisdom that it may be well with my soul. You dislike when I disobey your word and seek pleasure in other things that are not beneficial to my life and spiritual growth. At times, I felt childish, constantly stumbling in my steps, and needed a firm, loving hand to steady me. Oh, Father, judge me not so hard that I cannot bare it. Let my heart, mind, and soul improve daily in learning and living for the truth. Melt this delight of truth like sweet honey in my mouth.

Create a New Heart in Me

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones that you have broken rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins,
and blot out all my iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from your presence,
and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.

Oh God, forgive me for all the wrongs that I’ve done at heart. Seeking earthly pleasures that are not good for my soul, mind, and spirit. The redeemer of my soul calls me back to the cross that my soul is well and keep my eyes set on Jesus. Holy Spirit, cast me not away from your presence but teach me wisdom and understanding of God’s Word. When my heart doesn’t abide in Him, blot out all my iniquities, renew my spirit and let me hear joy and gladness through Your word. I pray, Father, you create a new heart in me, purge all my imperfections, restore my joy, and uphold me in my trials.

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” John 15:4

Teach Others of God’s Salvation (v.13-17)

Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners will return to you.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God,
    O God of my salvation,
and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
16 For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it;
you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

O Lord of my salvation, let my heart take courage and share your gospel. With thanksgiving, I will sing praises aloud of your righteousness. I called upon you, Jesus, with a humble heart and mind, for through your Word, I’m made whole. When I have a broken and contrite heart, heal me, for I can only rejoice and find peace in You.

Pleasing Sacrifices (v. 18-19)

Do good to Zion in your good pleasure;
    build up the walls of Jerusalem;
19 then will you delight in right sacrifices,
    in burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings;
then bulls will be offered on your altar.

In your promises, my rest comes. My King on the hill of Zion will return in all His glory. My comfort and hope in knowing I’m one of the daughters of the Almighty King of Zion. My lips shall praise your name while I await your return like a bride awaits her bridegroom. Meanwhile, let my soul, mind, and body live a godly life, holy and pure in You, that all may be well with me.

Psalm 50

God Shines Forth (v. 1-2)

The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth  from the rising of the sun to its setting.
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.

Mighty One, God of Creation, you spoke, and the earth came into existence (Genesis 1:1). The power of your voice created all things that live in the land, sky, and seas. The perfection of your Creation is excellent and profitable for our life. My soul delights at the wonders of Your creation, bewilderment by its beauty. Let my heart continue to be faithful to Your marvellous works. Mighty One, you are the sustainer of all living things, including my life. Oh, Mightly One, let me declare your work of creation and salvation for all people.

God is Judge! (v.3-6)

Our God comes; he does not keep silence; before him is a devouring fire, around him a mighty tempest. He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people: “Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!” 6The heavens declare his righteousness,
for God himself is judge! Selah

“God almighty, creator of all things, you’re the ultimate judge of righteousness upon all the people of the earth. Your wrath is a devouring fire that doesn’t cease.” For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.” (Romans 1:18) “God almighty, creator of all things, you’re the ultimate judge of righteousness upon all the people of the earth. Your wrath is a devouring fire that doesn’t cease. “ For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.” (Romans1:18)

God, you’ve tested the hearts of the nations of Isreal who had not experienced the wars in Canaan (Judges 3:1). Are you trying to help our countries that have experienced war but now call for peace, and they have none. Are we deceiving ourselves by thinking we’re living in a time of peace when lies, death, and corruption abound in our lands? Oh, yes, you’ve tested Israel many times. Testing if they would obey your commandments (Judges 3:4). Sadly, we have disobeyed your word and commandments, Even rejecting God in all possible ways. Removing God from our schools, institutions, and government. We’ve compromised our faith and love for Jesus Christ and complied with everything contrary to God’s word. Oh, Jesus, my Beloved redeemer, forgive us if we have done so. Turn our hearts back to You, and give us the courage to stay firm in our faith and live for you.

So Zion meant the place where God was present and near to his people. But that’s not all. It follows that Zion became the place from which the people expected help. Zion became the source of deliverance and salvation. For example,

  • Psalm 20:2, “May the Lord send you help from the sanctuary, and give you support from Zion!”
  • Psalm 3:4, “I cry aloud to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy hill”—that is, Mount Zion.

So Zion was the place of God’s special presence among his people and it was the place where they could get help and deliverance.

John Piper-

I Am God, your God (v.7-11)

“Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, I will testify against you.  I am God, your God.
Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you; your burnt offerings are continually before me. I will not accept a bull from your house or goats from your folds. 10 For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills.11 I know all the birds of the hills, and that moves in the field is mine.

You are my God, and I’m thankful for all your provisions, wisdom, and steadfast love. Keep my soul pure and full of your understanding. Never let me walk far from your truth. Call me back! Call me back! Forgive my soul! You. Rebuke me not so harshly that I despair. It is with a heart of a child that I desire to learn from You. Let my simplest prayer be sweet to your ears.

“Real satisfaction comes not in understanding God’s motives, but in understanding His character, in trusting in His promises, and in leaning on Him and resting in Him as the Sovereign who knows what He is doing and does all things well.”

~ Joni Eareckson Tada

A Pleasing Sacrifice (v.12-15)

“If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine.
13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls  or drink the blood of goats? 14 Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and perform your vows to the Most High, 15 and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”

What sacrifices can my soul offer You but my best? Though I failed in the flesh, mind, and spirit, struggling to keep myself pure for You, I hold to your promises thatI’mm your beloved. To do so, I must hold firm to your promises. Cling to them for dear hope, rest, and peace. Let my soul call upon the Most High and offer Him a sacrifice of thanksgiving with hymn and song of praises.

He has said “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”

Charles Spurgeon- Morning & Evening Devotion

Do Not Keep Company with the Haters of God (v.16-18)

But to the wicked God says:“What right have you to recite my statutes  or take my covenant on your lips? 17 For you hate discipline, and you cast my words behind you.18  if you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers.

Oh God, let my soul meditate on this psalm, that all may be well with my soul. Holy Spirit guides my heart to respond to his word with obedience. That my joy will come from your words. That I would be courageous to share your word.

Hold your Tongue! (v.18-21)

“You give your mouth free rein for evil, and your tongue frames deceit. 20 You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother's son. 21 These things you have done, and I have been silent; you thought that I was one like yourself. But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you.

“Mighty God, let my tongue speak of wisdom so that I may be prudent in all my ways. “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion. (Proverbs 8:12). Let not my tongue lash with bitterness when angry or frustrated. Holy Spirit, teach my soul to abstain from speaking evil against another soul. It is not what you have called me for.

Talking of God (v.22-23)

Mark this, then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver! 23 The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!”

My God! My God! Do not forsake me; deliver me from my enemies so that my soul sings praised and clings to your steadfast love. I bow my knees in your grace and righteousness, hoping to be forgiven. Renew my spirit, increase my love for You, and be gentle when you rebuke your servant. Oh Jesus, my friend, walk by my side, for I always need You. I will dwell on understanding and knowing GoGod’sharacter and trust in His promises. Amen.

Psalm 49

Point Pelee National Park, Ontario, 2019

Speak Wisdom (v. 1-4)

Hear this, all peoples!   Give ear, all inhabitants of the world, both low and high, rich and poor together! My mouth shall speak wisdom; the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.
I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will solve my riddle to the music of the lyre.

O God, hear my voice! For I will incline my ears to your commands. I will listen to your wisdom and understanding and marvel at your steadfast love. All the people, rich, poor, educated, or slave, will be accountable for our iniquities. May the Holy Spirit teach us what is profitable and excellent so we may glorify God by living a godly life. When we pray, let us be like Mary and say with our lips, “Nothing is impossible for God!”. The Son of Man gave us his life and purpose, and if we believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior, that he died on the cross and rose again, then we are saved in Him.

"Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom,
that we may present everyone mature in Christ."
(Colossians 1:28)

Costly Ransom (v.5-9)

Why should I fear in times of trouble,  when the iniquity of those who cheat me surrounds me,
those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches? Truly no man can ransom another, or give to God the price of his lifefor the ransom of their life is costly and can never suffice, that he should live on forever and never see the pit.

My beloved Jesus, you’ve ransomed our souls with your perfect sacrifice. We should hold firm to Your promises, for the Holy Spirit dwells in us, teaching us about Christ. No one could ever pay the ransom for our souls except Jesus Christ. Through Jesus Christ, the wrath of God was appeased. And we’re now reconciled to Him. We shall live forever with our King of kings! Oh, lover of our souls, forgive us when we idolize other gods or things that are not profitable but lead us away from You.

"Since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am "holy.”
17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile,
18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,
19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot."
(Peter 1:16-19).

A Place to Dwell (v.10-15)

For he sees that even the wise die; the fool and the stupid alike must perish and leave their wealth to others.11 Their graves are their homes forever, their dwelling places to all generations, though they called lands by their own names. 12 Man in his pomp will not remain; he is like the beasts that perish.
13 This is the path of those who have foolish confidence; yet after them people approve of their boasts. Selah 14 Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol; death shall be their shepherd,
and the upright shall rule over them in the morning. Their form shall be consumed in Sheol, with no place to dwell. 15 But God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol, for he will receive me. Selah

Those who seek their rewards on earth will be served, and those who seek the heavenly things will receive their due compensation from Christ. Lord, I’m not claiming to be the best servant. Undeserving to be called one of yours and invited to the King’s table. But you know me and called me, and I sat at Your table, and I rejoiced to be one of the less of his servant.

Like the apostle John, I want to lean against your blossom or be like Mary at the feet of my Beloved Savior and hear your comforting words. Your steadfast love and grace give my soul hope for peace and rest in You. I am grateful that you’ve ransomed my soul from the wrath of the Father. I’m yours forever!

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, a people for his own possession,
that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."
1 Peter 2:9

The Glory of His House (v.16-20)

Be not afraid when a man becomes rich, when the glory of his house increases. 17 For when he dies he will carry nothing away; his glory will not go down after him.18 For though, while he lives, he counts himself blessed—and though you get praise when you do well for yourself— 19 his soul will go to the generation of his fathers, who will never again see light. 20 Man in his pomp yet without understanding is like the beasts that perish.

Those who surround us with their most decadent and boastful pride. Those who cried out,””There is no God.” Those who bow to the immorality of this culture lie and spread false accusations against others and have murderous actions against the ordinary people of our land. The wrath and justice of God are upon them.“Man in his pomp yet without understanding is like the best that perish.” Oh, my soul, do not be afraid, for God dwells among us.

"Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
    nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish."
Psalm 1:5-6

Let’s go pray!

Hold on to His promises and read God’s word in obedience. Don’t rely on the feelings that lead you away from Him.

ADORATION (v.1-3)

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King.Within her citadels God has made himself known as a fortress.

This prayer is dated August 2022. Read psalm 48 and pray over it in your own thought. I usually read a small part of scripture and pray over it till I’ve no more thought on that part. Then I opened my eyes, read another section and prayed over it. It’s OK to open your eyes and read to KEEP your mind focused on His word rather than have your mind wandering off for the next 15 minutes. So let’s pray with our hearts and mind focused on Him this morning.

Great King and Savior, let your servants rejoice that one day we’ll be at peace in the Great King’s city on Mount Zion. We can find our rest and peace in the One whose name is above all other gods. The same One who offered us salvation, hope, and a purpose in our life. My beautiful Redeemer, you’ve told us you’re our strong fortress. If we fear anything or anyone in this because our focus is not on your triumphed over all our enemies but that we’ve forsaken you in our moment of weakness. Shake the ground under our feet so that our tested faith may be strengthened toward You and not in anyone or anything else. Your steadfast love is what made us endures the most challenging situation.

CONFESSION (v.4-8)

For behold, the kings assembled; they came on together. As soon as they saw it, they were astounded, and in panic, they fled.Trembling took hold of them there, anguish as a woman in labour.By the east wind, you shattered the ships of Tarshish. As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God, which God will establish forever. Selah

Oh, my King, forgive your servant for doubting your mighty power and that I’ve forsaken my God. Knowing He has forgiven us, I will praise my King for my weakness. Jesus Christ has gone before us into battle against the wicket, and his triumph assured our souls that all would be restored at the end of the ages. How great will it be when many people sing praises in the ‘city of our God.’ Let my heart, mind, and soul dwell on those promises of a better world with our Redeemer.

THANKSGIVING (v.9-10)

We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple.10 As your name, O God,
so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness.11 Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments!

Oh, my King, I rejoiced that you’re sitting on your holy throne of grace and are exalted above all other kings. I’m glad you’re reigning over all the nations. All the earth belongs to you, and we must be good stewards until your return. I’m thankful for our Christian friends and churches that have stayed faithful to You. I’m grateful for those who have sought your truth and taught it to us. I’m thankful for the renewal of my love and friendship with my husband. You’ve made us test our faith and trust toward you through our marriage imperfection and made us love each other even more. You’re the One who taught us the importance of a relationship with You and toward our fellow man. If doubts arise, crushed them to ashes and let your truth reign in my heart instead.

SUPPLICATION

On this Christmas Holiday and New Year, I pray for those who are lonely, sick, depressed, addicted, or whatever state of mind you’re in; Jesus Christ is with you. The best Friend and Redeemer needed in your life. Call upon his name and be saved! Surrender yourself to Him at the Cross of Calvary and believe in Him.

Psalm 47

ADORATION (v. 1-4)

Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy! For the Lord, the Most High, is to be feared, a great king over all the earth. He subdued peoples under us, and nations under our feet.
He chose our heritage for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah

O Lord, we clap our hands and sing joyous songs to You, for you’re the Most High to be feared. Our nations have forsaken you, O God, and we’re cast into Satan’s shadow of gloominess, hopelessness, and destruction of our soul, mind and body. We shall rejoice in the little moments of our life until your kingdom and justice come. We seek peace and will not find it until the King of kings returns. O Lord, we will remember your steadfast love on this day, for you are our good Shepherd.

CONFESSION

You’re a God to whom we can cry, and you hear our voice in your steadfast love. We also sing our joy to You. Our belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior is our secure salvation and hope in Him. It’s not through the works of our own righteousness that we are saved but by the blood of the perfect Lamb. O Father, forgive us if we put our trust of salvation in anything else than our redeemer, Jesus Christ.

THANKSGIVING (v.5-7)

God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm!

We’re thankful that you’ve already triumphed over our enemies. Such a glorious hope for us! Your grace abounds in the world, saving those who you’ve redeemed. None can stop this magnificent grace of Yours! No scheme of evils, power, or greed of this world can overcome your mighty work of grace. Let us sing praises to you, our King. With our voices, let us testify of who Christ is without shame or fear of persecution. You alone give us the strength and comfort to live a godly life.

SUPPLICATION (v. 8-9)

God reigns over the nations;God sits on his holy throne. The princes of the peoples gather as the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is highly exalted!

You sit on your holy throne, exalted on high!. You’ve answered our deepest prayers; some have not been answered yet because it’s according to your will, not ours. I pray for those who need healing in body, mind, and spirit. I pray for the families that they stay strong and faithful to You. I pray for single and lonely people; you’re most loved in Christ. Let this week be a reminder of what Christ came into this world for, not just a baby in a manger, but to fulfill his destiny by providing the perfect sacrifice for our iniquities. Oh, how I love you, Jesus!

Psalm 46

Hello, my friends in Christ and those who seek to know Jesus Christ through prayer and His word. Read psalm 46 and pray to Him and then read my prayer for encouragement, inspiration, and hope. I’ve skipped psalm 45 as it was extremely short and incomplete. This prayer is dated August 9/22.

ADORATION (v.1-3)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

“God is our refuge and strength!” In my experience through many trials, I came to believe this to be true. My problems are different than yours, and when you are at the end of your battle, all hope is lost, even perhaps saying, “this is impossible to overcome!” Either consciously or not thought or said this aloud, you’ve put God’s divinity in a box. If you read His word and believed Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead in his miracles or that he cast out the demons. All with ONE WORD of power that no one can resist! His attributes described God in all His glories. I’ve cried to Him during my weakest moments, expecting nothing in return. My faith was tested through my prayers, and my heart humbled to His will rather than mine. So I encouraged you, my friend, not to lose hope.

Take refuge in the Savior’s arms. Take your strength in God. Run to your friend Jesus Christ! Oh God, you alone can see our struggles or trials. Guide our hearts to respond with humbleness, and faith, to surrender it all at the Cross, like a child running to the Father for comfort.

CONFESSION (v.4-7)

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

O God, be in the midst of our life; forsake not your servant, for we need you daily. Forgive the iniquities we have done against You, those of our past, present and future. Teach us to be like Mary at your feet, willingly learning about You. Or to be like the apostle Paul, spread the gospel in boldness. Or a gentle and quiet spirit like Daniel. Be our fortress when difficulties arise, and let the Holy Spirit guide us with wisdom and certitude in our decisions.

THANKSGIVING (v.8-11)

Come, behold the works of the Lord, how he has brought desolations on the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire.
10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

O God, Your works never ceased, and Your grace is alive! Let us praise Your name with hymns and songs till our days are spent. Be still my soul, for I know God is with us.

Lamb Of God- Sovereign Grace

O Lamb of God, all worlds obeyed Your will
From dark and void, their being came
O Lamb of God, Your glories echo still
Creation sings its Maker’s praise
Eternal God, One with the Father
Before all time, You dwelt in love
Eternal God, unlike all others
Yet You descended unto us

VERSE 2
O Lamb of God, in a filthy manger lay
In humble dress, You entered the earth
O Lamb of God, Creator bows to save
The needy ones, helpless from birth
Incarnate Word, gift of the Father
To take our place and bear our sin
Incarnate Word led to the slaughter
You conquered death and rose again

VERSE 3
O Lamb of God now reigning on the throne
The Judge of all, faithful and true
O Lamb of God, You’ll make Your power known
When all Your foes receive their due
Victorious King, when history’s fading
You’ll call Your Bride to take her place
Victorious King, Creation’s waiting
For Your redeemed to see Your face

Psalm 43

ADORATION (v.1-2)

Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man
deliver me! For you are the God in whom I take refuge; why have you rejected me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

O God, defender of my cause and deliver. You’re a God in who I take refuge and who sees the oppression of your people. Your reign forever, and you’re the most powerful God in the universe. The power of your Word is active and instant. When I pray, it is with that power and authority that was given to us by faith.

CONFESSION (v.3-4)

Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling! Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.

Let us praise your name daily and let your light and truth guide our steps. Forgive our iniquities that our soul may be well with You. Like Martha, our mind is preoccupied with preparation, but let us be at your feet and nearer you like Mary. My unceasing thoughts are upon return, O my King, do not delay. Like many, I want to pour my richest possession at your feet because your love is the most significant thing that counts to me.

THANKSGIVING (v.5)

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.

O God, my hope and salvation. You gave us a taste of joy, grandeur, and an impossible reconciliation with my husband. You renewed our hearts to love one another again, and we both knew it was because of You who interceded in our lives. I thank you for my children, our Christian friends, and our churches for not bowing to Babylon’s oppression. Keep us safe and faithful to You, O Lord, and let no trials of our life bring us to despair beyond our strength.

SUPPLICATION

Let’s pray for our family, neighbours, coworkers, lost daughters and sons, and for our nations.

Psalm 42

Have you read or studied His word this week? How is your quiet time with Him? I’ve to admit, mine wasn’t the greatest, for I’ve wandered off into the creativity of my mind. It has become my most challenging yet to read or pray without distractions. I’ve repented and asked God to return my concentration to Him. Oh, that bad habit is hard to break! Where is your pit of a bad habit? You cannot escape that pit on your strength; we must call upon God to pull you out of it. I pray Psalm 42 will encourage your heart to turn your eyes on Jesus Christ, our Savior.

This prayer is dated July 31/22 and modified a bit from the original. So far, I’ve memorized Psalm 62: 1-6. And I’ve read 10 chapters daily: Five in the OT, two in the Psalms, and three in the NT. Probably skipped one day so far.

We listened to a three-part series on Babylon by Martyn Iles- Australian Christian Lobby. Excellent sermons on how to live our faith in a Babylonian world. Never before have I seen myself like Daniel, living my faith and simply carrying my cross so that I would glorify God.

ADORATION (v1-4)

As a deer pants for flowing streams,so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God,for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my foodday and night,
while they say to me all the day long,“Where is your God?” These things I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I would go with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God with glad shouts and songs of praise, a multitude keeping festival.

Almighty Creator, “My soul thirsts for God, the living God; when shall I appear before God?” You see, my opponents, those who destroyed life lied and plotted evil against your saints. But You, O God, triumphed over them, and you reminded us of your promises that you will return in all your glory. One day a multitude of saints will shout with gladness, joy, and songs of praise to You.

Let us wait together patiently for that day.

CONFESSION ( v. 5-6)

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me?Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. My soul is cast down within me; therefore I remember you
from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.

“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me?” There are days my soul is burdened by the demonic culture the west has become. This is my cross to carry. I prayed and asked God to light my heart and give me joy and hope when I doubted there was none. Then I remembered Psalm 62, my soul will wait in silence, for I will trust in God, my rock, my glory, my salvation, my refuge. God’s grace is at work! We must remember that while we live for Him, we carry our cross of faith in whatever situation we face today.

THANKSGIVING (v.7-10)

Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me.
By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. 9I say to God, my rock:“Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”10 As with a deadly wound in my bones, my adversaries taunt me,while they say to me all the day long,“Where is your God?”

O God, those who asked mockingly, “Where is your God? Why does he let suffering happen? Why did he let the wicket prosper?” We are to answer with wisdom. It is because God’s mercy and grace are at hand, and Jesus Christ calls us to repentance before its final judgement. Is it not love for the saints that drove Him to die on the cross? Yes! We are sinners needed of a Redeemer. And rather than call upon God to save our souls, we live for the gods in this fallen world called Babylon the Great. We can embrace those beautiful psalms filled with His promises, encouragement to the righteous, and lamentation that comfort our burdened souls. Raise up your eyes to Jesus, and wipe your tears. Our King sees everything. Revenge is His. Meanwhile, O my soul, wait in silence.

Psalm 41

Good morning, my friends; how was your week? How was your time alone with God? Mine isn’t the greatest at the moment. I’m not struggling, only being lazy in my prayer life. Have you gone through a phase like that? I never did. We prayed together this morning, mostly my husband, so I don’t feel obligated to pray alone with God. I’ve to admit that my mind isn’t at rest either. My joy at the moment is to pray each day over the psalm. There is no excuse for this lack of not wanting to be with Him. It’s a sin of negligence, and I must repent of it. So if you’re in that same sinking boat as I am, repent, my friend, with me, and let’s pray together to our steadfast love God.

I memorized Psalm 62: 1-5 for far. I’m also planning to read 10 chapters daily, starting today. The reading will be divided into three sections. Old Testament, Psalm, and New Testament. See how that goes. Let’s pray for each other this week that we will not live as half-Chrisitan, but are indeed in love with our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Before you read my prayer, open your Bible read psalm 41 and pray over it. This prayer is dated July 30/22.

ADORATION (v. 1-3)

Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him;the Lord protects him and keeps him alive;he is called blessed in the land; you do not give him up to the will of his enemies. The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health

O Lord, you sustain, restore, bless, keep, protect, deliver, and consider a poor man/woman in spirit. You heal their heart so that they may rejoice in your promises. Almighty and faithful God, your grace is sufficient. There is no greater calling than Your voice to our lost souls. We searched for happiness in a place where there was none, and we worked all day for purposes that did not bring us any gain or joy. You’ve called us to repentance through your grace so that we may have salvation and hope (Psalm 62:6). O God, you’ve given us the gift of faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). The freeman/woman are slaves to their sinful nature, but you have delivered us from it and given us life through Jesus Christ.

27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. 29 For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, 30 engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have. ~ Philippians 1: 27-30

CONFESSION (v. 4-7)

As for me, I said, “O Lord, be gracious to me; heal me, for I have sinned against you!”My enemies say of me in malice, “When will he die, and his name perish?”And when one comes to see me, he utters empty words, while his heart gathers iniquity; when he goes out, he tells it abroad. All who hate me whisper together about me; they imagine the worst for me

O Lord, be gracious to us when we sin against you. Our multi-culturalism has turned us away from your way, truth, and life. It’s set against You in all forms and practices, demonic at heart (Psalm 62: 3-4). Our daughters and sons are encouraged and pressed into infertility for the rest of their life. They’ve rejected the only One who can bring them salvation and hope. Let us pray for them with a sincere heart of mercy and grace as you’ve done Yourself for us (Psalm 86:5-7).

Either this world will clash into a revolution or revival; whatever the outcome, my lips shall praise your name. Father, I will trust your will; I know you control everything. Even this fallen culture aims has drawn your saints closer to You. Cast down our enemies, for my heart knows you’ve triumphed over them already. Just give us the strength to endure a little longer till your glorious return.

THANKSGIVING (v. 8-10)

They say, “A deadly thing is poured out on him; he will not rise again from where he lies.”Even my close friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me.10 But you, O Lord, be gracious to me, and raise me up, that I may repay them!

I served a God who sees me. The One who cares for me during my trials, my sickness, my lack of love for Him, my lack of interest in Him, my doubtful and inconsistent thoughts of the unbelief of how great God’s grace abounds (John 3:16). Jesus Christ, my Savior, alone stood against the wrath of God on the Cross. Jesus, you were tempted, wept, and cried. When I rejoiced because you carried me in your arms, I was overwhelmed by your steadfast love toward me. Jesus, you understand our needs and sorrow better than anyone else, yet we prefer crying alone.

SUPPLICATION (v 11-13)

By this I know that you delight in me: my enemy will not shout in triumph over me.12 But you have upheld me because of my integrity,  and set me in your presence forever.13 Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen.

I know you delighted in me when I prayed and asked for forgiveness. When I’ve turned away from lustful thinking and devoted myself entirely to You. Set my heart, soul, and strength in Your presence forever.

Let’s go pray!

Psalm 40

ADORATION (v. 1-5)

Hello, my friends in Christ; I used the NIV translation today. This prayer is dated July 29/22. Read Psalm 40 and pray over it. I’ve decided to memorize Psalm 62, which is valuable to my soul. Today I prayed over Psalm 76. How is your quiet time with God this week? How is your Bible reading getting along this week?

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. 4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. 5 Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you;were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare

Lord, you put a new song in my heart, a praise to our God. You’ve multiplied your wondrous deeds and thoughts toward us; none can compare. I shall put my trust in God all the days of my life. I will proclaim your promises, love, holiness, and perfect redemption to all people who have no hope except through Jesus Christ, our blessed Lord.

CONFESSION (v.7-10)

Sacrifice and offering you did not desire— but my ears you have opened—burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.” 9 I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, Lord, as you know. 10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly.

O Lord, forgive your servant for not proclaiming your faithfulness or gift of salvation or deliverance and mercy to those who needed to hear it. Forgive me when my thoughts are doubtful and sinful. Defiling ourselves like a wore and fearing men/women rather than the God almighty. Trusting in men’s lies rather than God’s way and truth. Obeying Him that our life may be well with us. Oh, Father, save your people! It’s a daily struggle to want to stay pure at heart, mind and soul when our country has become like Sodom and Gomorrah.

THANKSGIVING (v.11-15)

Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord; may your love and faithfulness always protect me.
12 For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me.13 Be pleased to save me, Lord; come quickly, Lord, to help me. 14 May all who want to take my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace. 15 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!” be appalled at their own shame.

As for you, Lord, you will not restrain your mercy from us. Your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve us! I’m grateful you delivered me from myself when I was doubtful, bitter, and discontent. I fear evil has led many Christians away from the truth, believing and compromising their faith. Those who seek my life, bringing dishonour to our life, are not worthy of our friendship. If they are appalled by my love for Jesus Christ because I believed in You, let them be ashamed, for I do not want to recant your holy name.

SUPPLICATION (v. 16-17)

But may all who seek you, rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, “The Lord is great!” 17 But as for me, I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; you are my God, do not delay

I want to seek You and be glad in You. Let your servant delight and find joy in Your word. I pray for the broken and the lost, guide them through this dark and trial moment of their life. Do not crush us to a point we cannot bare it.

Let’s Go Pray!
