Psalm 44

"Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generation."
A prayer of Moses ~ Psalm 90:1

Adoration

Oh Lord, our King who hears and sees all our afflictions and oppressions, rouse yourself and deliver us from our foes!

O God, do not hide Your face from us and forget not our afflictions. We bow down to You and hide our faces in shame for having desired earthly gain and not set our minds on the things from above.

Let Your Almighty Power be at work and stir the hearts of Your people to stay loyal to Your holy name. We should continue trusting You with our lives and not rely on our feelings, which can lead us away from the truth. Our lives are just a mist and fade away quickly, but we should rely on Your promises that last forever. We should gain eternal life and hope in the Everlasting God of mercy and love.

Confession

“O Lord, I hand on You, I see, believe, live, when Your will, not mine, is done; I can plea nothing in myself in regard of any worthiness and grace, in regard of Your providence and promises, but only Your good pleasure. If Your mercy makes me poor and vile, blessed be You! Prayer arising from needs are preparations for future mercies; Help me to honour You in beleiving before I feel, for great is the sin if I made feeling a cause of faith” ~ Exerpt from Valley of Vision

Awake! Why are you sleeping, O Lord?
Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever!
Why do you hide your face?
Why do you forget our affliction and oppression?
For our soul is bowed down to the dust;
our belly clings to the ground.
Rise up; come to our help!
Redeem us for the sake of your steadfast love!

Request

I pray for our misled, doubtful, unbelievers, and rebellious daughters and sons. Oh Lord, save them! Bring our sons and daughters back to us. Oh Father, teach me how to walk by the Spirit that I may not gratify the desires of the flesh (Galatians 5:16)

“We experience this struggle between the desires of the flesh and the desires of the Spirit daily. This tension causes us to sometimes wonder if the gospel really does address this aspect of sin’s power-that is, its ability to pull us toward its desires. This seems especially true in the more respectable sins in our lives. Some of these subtle sins seem tenacious, and we must battle them daily. With others, we sometimes think we’ve turned the corner on one, only to discover a few days later that we’ve only gone around the block and are dealing wit it again”. ~ Exerpt from Respectable Sins by Jerry Bridges

Things I’m Thankful

  • To maintain faith in the midst of trials
  • That I can pray anywhere or anytime to God
  • God is a refuge of trust that brings me peace
  • Sufferings and persecution will end once and for all at my King’s return
  • To keep loyal to God
  • To be allowed to question God’s absence

Oh God, thank you for all your blessings. I will never take anyone or anything for granted. Losing our eight-year-old dogs to a ravaging colon mass was hard on us. The sudden goodbye, which we were not prepared for left us in tears. All God’s creations are good, and having Merlin’s company and friendship for many years was a blessing.

Psalm 45

Adoration

Read Psalm 45 & Pray

O Majesty King, for the cause of truth, meekness, and righteousness (v4). You have given yourself to us. Your throne shall last forever with a sceptre of righteousness (v6). God has blessed and anointed You with oil of gladness (v7).

Oh God, be my King, my handsome bridegroom, that I may live well. Guide my heart to be entirely loyal to Your deeds and teachings. Let Your splendour and majesty warm my heart, and I will be faithful to You by living a godly life and praising Your name. I will leave all earthly things and embrace those from above (Gal. 5:22-23; Col. 3:12-13; Eph. 4:1-3).

Oh God, as your daughter, let me incline my ears to Your beautiful voice, Your Word and let it speak to my heart by the Holy Spirit.

Confession

“But, O how I mounr my sin, ingratitude, vileness, the days that add to my guilt, the scenes that witness my offending tongue. all things in heaven, earth, around, within, without, condemne me- Your righteousness law, Your holy Word, my sin-soiled conscience, my private and public life, my neighbours, myself. All write dark think against me. I deny them not, frame no excuse, but confess, “Father, I have sinner.”~ Exerpt from Valley of Vision Puritain Prayer

Request

“There is a fundamental principle of the Chrisitian life that I call the principle of dependent responsibility; that is, we are responsible before God to obey His Word, to put to death the sins in our lives both the so-called acceptable sins and the obviously not acceptable ones. At the same time, we do not have the ability within ourselves to carry out this responsibility. We are in fact totally dependent upon the enabling power of the Holy Spirit. In this sense, we are both responsible and dependent.” ~ Exerpt from Respecatlbe Sins by Jerry Bridges

Oh Jesus, my Savior, teach me how to cling to Your cross and know without doubt that You have nailed all my sins with You, sheltering me from the wrath of God. Let me seek Your word with joy and zeal. Teach me to be faithful.

What I learned about God:

  • Royal wedding: Christ & His bride
  • Divine love
  • Kingship
  • Prophesy
  • Marriage
  • Worship
  • Beautiful Savior
  • Everlasting God
  • Handsome God
  • Grace and Majestic
  • Victorious God

I am grateful that God seeks us in our purity, grace, truth, humility, justice, and loyalty to Him.

Psalm 61

“It is a heartfelt testimony of a believer’s deep trust in God amid life’s turbulation”~ BibleHub Psalm 61

Adoration

Hear my prayer, Oh God. Listen to Your servant who needs Your guidance and steadfast love. You were with God in the beginning. You created all things in heaven and on earth. Nothing is hidden from You. Oh, Jesus, life dwells in You, and the light of goodness and mercy flows through You.

Let me dwell in Your tent forever. Let Your Word be my comfort, guidance, and firm foundation. Let Your arms of grace and mercy be a refuge to my mind, body, and soul. Let Your strong tower be where I can hide and renew my strength’s faith.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” ~ John 1:1

Confession

“To You, I come in my difficulties, distresses; possess me with with yourself, with a spirit of grace and supplication, with a prayerful attitude of mind, with access into warmth of fellowship, so that in the ordinary concerns of life, my thought and desires may rise to You, and in habitual deotion I may find a resource that will soothe my sorrow, sanctify my successes, and qualify me in all ways for dealings with my fellow men.” ~Exerpt from Valley of Vision Puritain Prayers

Father, You see me and what I’m made of. Forgive my lack of prayer and mindset toward Your marvellous Word. There is nowhere I can hide my sins; I must bring them all to the Cross. In Christ, I’m a new creation and want to live for Him, even when I struggle with my subtle sins.

Request

Lord Jesus, our son’s welfare of mind and soul has increased our worries for them. As imperfect parents, we cannot undo what we have done or not done enough when we were children. In their adult life, they make unwise decisions or follow ungodly practices that are very worrisome. Since I’ve become a believer, I’ve untrusted their souls into Your merciful hands. Oh please, Jesus, save my youngest son and renew my oldest son’s mind so that he may realize the false teachings he’s following. Spirit of God, save them both from the clutch of deception and lies. Claimed my sons as lost sons to become Children of God. Hear our prayer, Jesus. In You I trust.

“What, then, does it mean to do all to the glory of God? It means that I eat and drive and ship and engage in my social relationships with a twofold goal. First, I desire that all that I do be pleasing to God. I want God to be pleased with the way I go about in ordinary ativities of my day. So I pray propectively over the day before me, asking that the Holy Spirit will so direct my thoughts, words, and actions that they will be pleasing to God” ~ Exerpt from Respectable Sins by Jerry Bridges

Psalm 37

O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
Psalm 139:1-6

Adoration

Oh Lord of Divine Justice and winner of my souls, be patient with Your servant who frets and worries about situations that cannot be controlled. Let me delight and trust in You always. Let me commit to Your ways and be faithful to You in my actions and thoughts. Teach me not to fret over those who are wicked and seem to prosper, for they will fade away and be carried out into Your perfect and righteous justice.

Confession

“O Lord, I am astonished at the difference between my receiving and my deservings, between the state I am now in and my past gracelessness, between the heaven I am bound for and the hell I merit. Who made me differ, but You? For I was no more ready to receive Christ then were others; I could not have begun to love You If you had not loved me, or been willing unless You had first made me so. O that such a crown fit the head of such a sinner! ~ Exerpt from Valley of Vision

Request

Oh Lord, let not the wicked lead my sons from Your presence. Called them sinners to respective hearts. Protest them from this evil spirit and false teachings they have embarrassed become their soul’s destruction. They have called upon a higher power of evil who isn’t the truth God. Destroyed and exposed the devilishness that has gone with these false teachings, leading them away from You and the gospel’s truth. Deliver them from the clutch of Satan who devoured the innocents and weeks. Bring my sons back to us, into Your marvellous light!

I trust in Your perfect justice and let You condemn those who seek to destroy marriage, family, children, the poor, the orphans, and the widows. You’re my stronghold and future of peace. All transgressors shall be destroyed. Oh Divine God, in Your will, I take refuge and trust. Forgive my doubts when I don’t seek You in prayer.

What I learn about God:

  • God is righteous
  • Divine justice and intervention amid tribulation
  • God is a refuge when we trust in Him
  • He encourages us to seek His justice
  • He wants us to maintain our faith in Him

What I’m Thankful for:

  • God deals with those who pursue that are against us
  • I can pray against those who are contenders, deceivers doing evil deeds
  • To be vindicated by God
  • To be my Protector and Defender
  • To be able to praise God for His defence and righteousness.

Psalm 35

Another week is ending, and I haven’t prayed over any psalm, read my Bible, or studied another chapter in the book of Genesis. Wow, what a shame, but it does happen on occasion in my life. Even faithful Christians could skip their time alone with Him occasionally because their life becomes crazy-insane-busy, but that shouldn’t be the norm.

I’m grateful that my husband and I have a morning devotion and prayer as a couple. What a wonderful blessing! My husband and I are presently reading 200 Years of Christ’s Power by N.R. Needham. It’s an excellent book written for the simple Christian who wants to understand the age of the early church fathers.

“Am I a God at hand, declares the Lord, and not a God far away? Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him?” declares the Lord. Do I no fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord.” ~Jer. 23:23-24

Adoration

O Lord, Righteous and Divine intervener of all my tribulation. Let your Almighty name be a comfort to me. Let those who seek to fright against our family and deceived my sons, be put to shame and dishonour. Expose their false teachings and greed that certainty will lead them to their end. Let your angels pursue and drive those demons away from my sons so that they see your glorious might. Let them stumbled in their words and malice of heart. O Lord cast all their sins upon the cross. Saved them!

Confession

Oh Lord, if I’ve failed to teach my sons Your will or lack the wisdom of Your word, I repent of it. Let me rejoice and be glad in Your word and make it profitable and perfect so that I may share and start for the truth.

Let them be put to shame and dishonor
who seek after my life!
Let them be turned back and disappointed
who devise evil against me!

Let them be like chaff before the wind,
with the angel of the Lord driving them away!

Let their way be dark and slippery,
with the angel of the Lord pursuing them!
Psalm 35:4-6

Request

“How long, Oh Lord, will you look on? Rescue them from their destruction, for their life are precious to us. Bring them back to us in their right minds. Change their heart of a child of wrath into a child of God. Let my lips praise Your always, never doubting my prayers are heard by the Almighty God.

“Since the gospel is only for sinners, I begin each day with the realization that despite my being a saint, i still sin every day in though, word, deed, and motive. If I am aware of any subtle, or not so subtle, sins in my life, I acknowledge those to God. Even if my conscience is not indicting me for conscious sins, I still acknowlege to God that I have not even come close to loving Him with all my being or loving my neighbor as myself. I repent of those sins, and then I apply specific Scripture that assure me of God’s forgiveness to those sins I have just confessed. I then generalize the Scripture’s promises of God’s forgivenss to al lmy life and say to God words tot he effect that my only hope of a right standing with Him that say is Jesus’s blood shed for my sins, and His righteous life lived on my behalf. This reliance on the twofold work of Christ for me is beautifully captured by Edward Mote in his hymn. “The Solid Rock” with his words, ” My hope is built on nohing less, than Jesus’s blood and righteousnes.” Almost every day, I fing myself going to those words in addition to refeclting on the promises of forgiveness in the Bible.” ~Exeprt from Respactable Sins: Confronting the sins we tolrate

Oh Jesus, forgive my sublte sins whaterver they are in thought, word, deed, and motive. I’m grateful for Your enduring promises. For Your protection and justice that will stand triumpant over all Your enemies.

What I learned about God

  • We should trust in God’s justice
  • God gives divine judgment upon the wicked
  • God is omniscient and omnipresent
  • God waits patiently
  • God laughs at those who plot evil
  • God upholds his wrath and lets the course of history take place
  • God’s laws are good

Psalm 34

“Can you find out the deep things of God? Can you find out the limit of the Almithy? It is highter then heaven-what can you know?” ~Job 11:7-8

Adoration

Oh Father of all good, great Redeemer of my soul, teach me how to pray so that my lips will praise Your glorious name. Holy Spirit, sanctify with grace to lead me to Your sanctuary of rest and peace in Christ. Let Your word comfort me from all my anxieties and troubles, and take refuge in Your arms as a child of God. Crushed those self-righteous thoughts and ambitions that are dwelling and holding me back from seeing Your perfect love and care for my soul.

Confession

“Nothing exceeds Your power, nothing is too great for You to do, nothing too good for You to give. Infinet is Your might, boundless Your love, limitess Your grace, glorious Your saving name. Let angels sing for, prodigual restored, blackslidders reclaimed, blind eyes opened, broken hearts bound up, the despendent cheered, the self-righteous stripped, the formalist driven from a refuge of lies, the ignorant enlightened, and saints built up in their holy faith. I ask thing of a great God.” ~ Exerpt from Valley of Vision

I pray You teach my heart a genuine faith and love for Jesus Christ. Please don’t let me backslide into temptations that are beyond my strength to conquer. Let not evil of this world affect and compromise my faith. Steady my feet wherever I go, and keep my lips praising You always.

“By acknowledging my sin, I mean more than a halfhearted admision to myself that I acted selfishly in a given instance. Rather, I mean a wholehearted, defenseless admission, “I am a selfish person, and that particular act was only a manifastation of the selfishness taht still dwells within me.” But in order to make such an admission, I need the assurance taht my selfsihness is forgiven- that God no longer holds it against me. The gospel give us that assurance. Consider these words from the apostle Paul: “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin” (Romans 4:7-8).

Why does God not count my sins agianst me? Because He has already charged it to Christ. As the prophet Isaiah wrote, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has laid it on him the iniquity of us all” (53:6)~ Exeprt from Respectable Sins by Jerry Bridge.

Request

Our youngest son, who is 29 years old, redeemed his soul to become a new man in Jesus Christ. Show him the vile of his friends and our love for him.

Oh God, our oldest son has embarrassed spiritualism, mixed with a new-age belief that has already proven harmful to him. He has lost his job, his transportation, much of his personal effect, the prospect of eviction from his apartment, and even got hospitalized (I won’t mention the reason). Oh Lord, he’s 34 years old, has his way, and doesn’t take counsel from us, even if we have warned him many times. He is in your hands. They are both in your hand. For our sake as parents, bring them both in their right mind.

I continued to pray for my daughter, hoping you would give her strength in the area she struggles with. Let her love for You be a blessing. As parents, we always worry for our children. Only in You can I find peace and rest, not get anxious over their lives and situations. I will continue praying for them.

Let our marriage improve in love, communication, faithfulness of thoughts, and patience toward each other. Let us not seek our ways but understand each other’s good character. In You, O God, all things are possible. Let me never doubt it.” ~Jerry Bridges, Respectable Sins confronting the sins we tolerate

Psalm 33

Adoration

Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright.Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre;  make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings with loud shouts. ~Psalm 33:1-4

“Father of light with whom there are no variations or shadows due to change. You never change, O LORD.” ~James 1:27

“O God whose will conquers all, there is no comfort in anything apart from enjoying You and being engaged in Your service. You are ALL Creator in all, and all enjoyments are what to me You make them, and no more.” ~ Excerpt from Valley of Vision

Confession

For the word of the Lord is upright,  and all his work is done in faithfulness. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. By the word of the Lord, the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; he puts the deeps in storehouses. ~ Psalm 33:4-7

Your upright and good works showed me how great and awesome of a God You are. In Your steadfast love, You’ve forgiven all my debts and nailed them at the cross, dying with You and fred by Your atonement for all my sins.

If I’m frustrated in my walk to please You in all matters of life, forgive me and teach me how to live a godly life by faith in the Son of God.

Supplication

The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the people’s plans.
11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he has chosen as his heritage!13 The Lord looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man; 14 from where he sits enthroned, he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, 15 he who fashions the hearts of them all and observes all their deeds.
16 The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
17 The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might, it cannot rescue.18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love,19 that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine. ~Psalm 33:1-19

“I long to make some return but have nothing to offer and can only rejoice that you do it all, that none in heaven or on earth share your honour.” ~ Excerpt from Valley of Vision

Let your righteousness guide my feet into a direction that will honour Your name. You look down on us and see all we’ve done, the good and the evil. None of us are saved by great armies, or by a superhero, or our own strength, but by the steadfast love of the Son of God who gave himself for us. You’ve delivered us from the wrath of God and reconciled us to the Father.

“Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in Him, because we trust in His holy name. Let Your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in You”

Psalm 33: 20-22

Adoration- v1-2

“God of my Salvation, Heavenly Father, blessed Son, eternal Spirit, I adore You as one Being, One Essence, one God in three distinct Persons, for bringing sinners to thy knowledge and to your kingdom”

Exerpt from the Valley of Vison (Trinity)

Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity and in whose spirit there is no deceit

Confession- v3-7

When I kept silent, my sins bothered my conscience day and night, and my strength withers away through my groaning of being unable to shake them off. But when I acknowledged my sin and confessed my transgression against You, O Lord, you forgave all my sins, none will remain, and I shall be perfect and complete in You. Let my prayer be a sweet offering, giving with a genuine heart of repentance.

You are a hiding place for me;
    you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with shouts of deliverance.

Psalm 32:7

Supplication/Request

O Holy Spirit, you’ve loved me and entered my heart, implatented there eternal life, revealed to me the glories of Jesus”

Exeprt from the Valley of Vision

Father, I thank You for your fullness of grace. Subdue my stubborn heart and instruct and teach me your righteousness and perfect ways. Holy Spirit, I’m willing to learn from God’s Word, how to abide in Him, how to pray and do His will. Strengthen my faith and trust in His will for me. Your steadfast love for me lasts forever. Let me be glad and rejoice in the Lord of Righteousness.

“The assurance that God no longer counts my sin against me does two things. First it assures me that God is for me, not against me (see romans 8:31). I am not alone in this battle with sin. God is not watching me from His heavenly throne saying, ‘When are you going to get your act together? When are you going to deal with that sin?” Rather, He is, as it were, coming alongside me saying, “We are going to work on that sin, but meanwhile I want you to know that I no longer count it against you.” God is no longer my judge; He is now my heavenly Father, who loves me with a seflf-generated, infinite love, even in the face of my sin. That assurance greatly encourages me and motivates me to deal with the sin.”

Psalm 28

Read Psalm 28

My Plea for Mercy

Oh, Father of Mercy and Grace, let Your righteousness and judgment always come at the right time. Give us the strength and courage to endure until Your return. When You do so, you’ll judge and condemn those who have continually done evil, claiming that there is ‘no God’ and lying to those who want to do good. Killing all hope for orphans, widows, the poor, families, and working people. They are known for their fruit of evil, hatred, deception, greed, and sexual immorality. Oh God, I plea for Your Divine intervention!

Do Not me Off with the Wicked

Jesus, hold me fast in Your word and true and righteous teachings. Forgive me when I fear the future for our children, elders, and ourselves. There is no peace or rest in this land, for judgment is upon it, for the churches and your saints have forsaken Your ways, embracing the things of the world. Only in Your can I build my strength; through prayer and crying for help, can I continue stepping forward. Forgive me as I struggled to keep my joy focused on the above things. Let my freedom be in You and not seek it from this passing world. Let my refuge find in Your arms.

Hear my Voice!

I seek refuge in You, O Jesus, my Comforter. Steady my faltering steps that I may trust and abide in You even more. Let my heart exult in praises and thanksgiving for how great You are. Oh, Jesus, my Savior, Refuge, Rock, Fortress, and Good Shepherd; you who see all things. Hear my prayers, and don’t forget your humble servant. Let my trials bring suffering, then perseverance, building character, and hope.

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart rejoices, and I give thanks to Him with my song.

  • To be able to trust Him
  • All His enemies and those who are hurting us with evil deeds will be judged by a Righteous God
  • To pull my strength and comfort from His word
